Metal Detecting, possibly the greatest hobby and sport in the world!

1.  Always ask permission from the property owner(s) before digging up someone’s property.

2.  Check federal, state, county and local laws before doing any searching or digging.

3.  Leave the area exactly as you found it, pick up your trash do not destroy any plants, trees or any indigenous vegetation.

4. Always observe any rules or regulations found in any area that you will be searching in, they are there for your protection.

5.  Report a historically significant find to the proper authorities.

6.  Do not contaminate creeks, rivers, lakes etc.....

7.  If given permission to enter an area show respect for their property. Do not vandalize.

8.  If camping in a fire restricted area, please follow this and all restrictions for the area.

9.  Fill in all the holes you make.

10. If you encounter other searchers in the area be courteous and respect their space.

If you are given permission to enter someone’s property then accept the responsibility that comes with it. Pick up all your trash, cover up all holes, do not vandalize or trash other people’s property. Leave it the way it was before you got there. Other detectorists may be judged by what  you leave behind. Please do your part now so that others can have a chance to enjoy this sport.
